Ferrari 296 GTB: Redefining Excitement

The best way to explain it is to drive it. The new Ferrari 2.9L 120° V6 engine 296 GTB is coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor capable of delivering at total 819hp. This Prancing Horse mid-engine 296 GTB reawakens the excitement of the 1961 “Dino” 246 GT. Nostalgia is not meaningless in the pursuit of maximum performance.

The well-designed engine architecture of the 296 GTB turbochargers provide an electrifying symphony similar to a V12 Ferrari engine. Topping at a max speed of 205mph, the ICE generates 653hp and the hybrid component of the 296 GTB allows for virtually no turbo lag when the pedal is to the metal. Break free of mundane touring, and set your inner Charles Leclerc free. The 296 GTB goes from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and instantly diffuses the Jersey Shore sunset to a blur in your rear view mirror.

The Ferrari designers created the elegant 296 GTB in which all the performance-oriented elements meld effortlessly with the styling. The compact, modern design architecture is thanks to the shorter wheelbase. The smaller wheelbase reduces inertia and therefore provides more agility while driving. The dense layout of the 120° V6 engine and electric motor lead to a single central exhaust tailpipe that further reduces the cars footprint and weight. Looking at the car from the front, the side volume creases sharply inwards and allows efficient airflow over the side splitter. Additionally, the Assetto Fiorano package includes weight reducing carbon-fibre features and aero modifications.

The 296 GTB is for those looking to maximise driving pleasure and will not be replacing any model in the Ferrari range. The 296 GTB is the second hybrid Ferrari, but the first V6 Hybrid Ferrari with the intention of maximising performance with the zero-lag integrated hybrid system. The 8-speed dual clutch gearbox has the fastest gear changes on the market. The new ABS evo system has an additional, sixth sensor for better handling and driving control. The greatest contribution to the 296 GTB’s “fun to drive” character is the meticulously integrated dynamic feedback that the car provides to driver and passenger.

The pure, minimalistic cockpit design of the 296 GTB mirrors the elegant, yet powerful exterior aesthetic. The completely digital interface is ergonomically designed to facilitate driver commands.  When the engine is off, the onboard instruments go black, enhancing the pure look of the cabin. The unimposing passenger-side display allows the passenger to live the driving experience as a participant, almost a co-driver. As if the tactile and visual experience isn’t exciting enough, the “hot tube” channels pure engine sounds into the cabin.
