One of only 797 imported to North America is this offering of the fantastic last breath of the original 911. Jerry Seinfeld, a well-known Porsche collector, was the previous owner of this Speedster. It was sold to Seinfeld by the original owner after 24 years of ownership. This Speedster with just 10,xxx original miles, has always been properly stored in a climate-controlled environment and regularly maintained, including a fresh service completed by Canepa Motorsports in Southern California. The Porsche comes complete with the original owner's manuals, tool kit, jack, car cover, tire pump and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity as well as a copy of the title as proof of the celebrity ownership. Factory Options include Marine Blue leather interior, 158 Radio "Reno" -- 87, 220 Locking differential, 243 Shorter gear shift lever, 286 High intensity windscreen washers, 288 Headlight washers, 419 Rear luggage compartment instead of rear seats, 437 Comfort seat left, 438 Comfort seat right, 454 Automatic speed control, 559 Air conditioner. At just 2,690 lbs. the Speedster was 154 lbs. lighter than its sister, the Cabriolet. The total build was limited to only 2,056 examples, which makes the 1989 Speedster more than twice as exclusive as the original that inspired it. The late 80's Speedster was also significant in Porsche history as they are amongst the final products of the original 911 factory in Stuggart, Germany. The production 1989 Speedster wore a unique aluminum framed windshield that was more than 3 inches lower and raked 5 degrees flatter than that of the standard Cabriolet. Special Speedster equipment also included the evocative twin-hump fiberglass tonneau that covered the folded top and precluded rear seats, and lowered bucket seats with supportive sport seatbacks. Of the 2,056 Speedsters produced, 1,894 featured the "M491 Turbo Look" wide body, suspension and brake upgrade option.
